The Halle Foundation, an independent, public grant-making charity established by Claus M. Halle, awarded SCAD-Atlanta a $50,000 grant that will fund a unique artists’ books collaboration between SCAD-Atlanta and HBK Braunschweig in Germany. “No Translation Required: Artists’ Books in Germany and Georgia” is a two-fold project that will provide students from both institutions with a unique opportunity for an international exchange focused on book arts and artists. In June 2009, students from both campuses will work together to create innovative books that reflect a synthesis of their separate cultures in both spirit and design. The collaboration will culminate in an exhibition of artists’ books from both SCAD and a German collection; the exhibition will first appear in Germany and then at SCAD-Atlanta.
