Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. For more than 20 years, we have welcomed them into our homes and relished in their weekly adventures as they run amuck in Springfield. But as we watch Homer and the gang toss back cold ones at Moe’s, there is a writing team working tirelessly to keep the laughs coming. One such writer is Joel Cohen, who has been with the show since 2001.

Cohen is not your typical Hollywood type. His glasses allude to a past life of cold calls and business meetings, which is probably not far from the truth. Cohen holds an MBA and used to be a corporate salesman. Quite a stretch from his current role as an Emmy award-winning writer and co-executive producer for “The Simpsons.”  So how did he go from a “suit” to a “creative” on TV’s longest running show?

Find out for yourself as Joel Cohen visits SCAD Atlanta as part of the Ivy Hall Writers Series on Thursday, March 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Events Space on the fourth floor of Building C, 1600 Peachtree Street.
