SCAD continues its participation in Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) with events at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue in Atlanta Friday, September 10, 6 – 9 p.m. SCAD and Atlanta celebrate the city’s selection as one of the FNO-sanctioned cities while, at the same time, partner with three major events in New York City at Dylan’s Candy Bar, Lord & Taylor and Debut New York retail gallery and boutique.

For the second year, Neiman Marcus has invited SCAD students to present their designs at the Lenox Square location. Select pieces from SCAD’s School of Fashion senior collection will be featured in the store and displayed in the window facing the luxury wing on the top floor.

Across Peachtree Street at Phipps Plaza, SCAD fashion and photography students will collaborate with Saks Fifth Avenue in showcasing the latest trends for the upcoming fall season. Guests have the opportunity to be styled by fashion students who will create individual looks with the store’s “must-have” items for fall. Photography students will capture the results, sending guests their exclusive, complimentary photo after the event. This event is free and open to the public.

Students from Atlanta will also participate in Fashion’s Night Out in New York. SCAD and Dylan’s Candy Bar have joined forces to present “Candy Couture,” a special exhibit in honor of Fashion’s Night Out, which opens Friday, Sept. 10, at Dylan’s Candy Bar flagship store on Third Avenue at the corner of 60th Street. Atlanta local Storm Dorris is one of six students from SCAD’s Schools of Fashion and Design who created dresses made with candy from Dylan’s Candy Bar. Inspired by Christian Dior, Dorris used crushed blueberry rock candy, jelly beans, gummy bears, sour belts and cotton candy to create his one-of-a kind gown. The SCAD designs will be displayed in Dylan’s front windows and throughout the store until Halloween.

Lord & Taylor will host five SCAD students, including SCAD Atlanta’s Sarah Butler and Ashley Alves, who will produce fashion illustrations at the retailer’s FNO event at 424 Fifth Ave. Customers will model for the students as they create sketches in the unique style of fashion illustrators. The complimentary drawings will be presented to the customers.

About Fashion’s Night Out

Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) is a global initiative created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry’s economy. In the United States, the program is a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York. On September 10, Fashion’s Night Out will return to New York City and launch in cities nationwide to put the fun back in shopping, with designer appearances, live windows, celebrity guests, and other special events.

Around the world, and led by fifteen international Vogue editions (Australia, Britain, China, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, and Turkey), each country will celebrate Fashion’s Night Out on one night between Sept 7 and Sept 16.

Fashion’s Night Out will be the subject of a one-hour special on CBS on September 14, 2010. For more information, click here.
