Cross Country member and third-year Animation student, Genesis Henderson, did it again. He has now won first place in two of his last three cross country events. Over the weekend, the SCAD Atlanta Men’s Cross Country team competed at the Viking Cross Country Open in Rome, GA.

Coach Wyatt Graff said, “Henderson crushed the competition.”

Henderson jumped in front to take a commanding lead, finishing in first place with a time of 26:21 in the 8k course. He finished six seconds ahead of second place finalist, Ryan James, from Berry College.

Cross Country member  and third-year Graphic Design student, Chris Stewart, had a strong race. He finished 28th in a field of 132 runners. The other top five Bees runners include third-year Graphic Design student Corey Bundy, who finished 37th with a 28:51 time, first-year student Dylan Cunningham who placed 57th with a 29:46 time, and first-year student Joe Jones who placed 68th with a 30:25 time.

The Bees placed 7th out of 15 teams. Emory University won first place.

Earlier in October., Henderson won another event at the Truett-McConnell Invitational. He led the way for the Bees, finishing the 8k with a time of 30:32.

Coach Graff commented, “His blistering time was 27 seconds faster than the nearest competitor.”

At the Truett-McConnell Invitational, Stewart finished in 8th place with a 32:17 time, Bundy finished 10th with a 32:28 time, Cunningham finished in 11th with a 34:00 time and Jones took 18th with a 35:11 time.

The SCAD Atlanta Bees took second place in the competition. The host, Truett-McConnell, won the event.

Henderson also finished second at the Point University Invitational in October., with a time of 26:39 on the 8k course. The Bees took third place at the event. Morehouse College took first.

SCAD Atlanta returns to the course on Nov. 3, at the AAC Championship at Bryan College in Dayton, TN.
