Battle and Brew is half restaurant, half gaming center.

Equal parts gaming center and restaurant, Battle and Brew wins as a convenient one-stop shop for gaming enthusiasts with an appetite. At Battle and Brew you can pay for hourly use of Wii, PC, Xbox, NES or PS3 consoles. Aside from a fully stocked beer bar and some booths, the inside of Battle and Brew is the ultimate man-cave. The low lighting makes the high resolution TVs and monitors glow and the low couches offer hours of comfort. Artwork of anime characters or typical geek fanfare like Star Wars memorabilia and posters of video games cover every inch of available wall space. Daily specials like student discounts on Mondays and free ladies night on Fridays keep your wallet from losing points. To compete in the hardest geek trivia in Atlanta, call ahead to reserve a table on Wednesday nights. National Star Wars Day, May 4, at Battle and Brew did not disappoint with an all Star Wars marathon shown in machete order.

Named after X-men Ororo Munroe, this coffee mocha martini is made of sake.

The brew half of Battle and Brew impresses as much as the battle. Separated from the food menu and several pages long, the beer menu conveniently categorizes drafts and bottles by the varietal. Whether you like fruity, hoppy or feeling the dark side, Battle and Brew challenges any taste preference to a street fight and will K.O. If you know more about slaying dragons than beer, the menu lists the cheat codes like style, alcohol percent and tasting notes to aid in choosing the best brew for you. Unique to Battle and Brew, prohibition style hand-crafted cocktails and martinis use only saké, which originated from Japan as fermented rice. For a sweet saké treat try jolly rancher infused saké called a Pokémon shooter.

Sandwiches, bratwursts, wraps, shrimp baskets, burgers, and pizza range from $5 to $10. Some of the most popular choices are the triforce burrito with chicken, bacon, chorizo and lime salsa for just $7, and the BnB’s hickory burger with one-third of a pound of beef, cheddar, bacon, two onion rings and honey bbq sauce for just $7.50. Spend the extra $1.50 for fries instead of Miss Vickie’s chips; the thinly cut potatoes are seasoned and fried to deliciousness. The basket of sweet potato tots covered in caramel and cinnamon finishes the meal flawlessly for $4.75. Another dessert to defeat your sweet tooth is an oven-baked s’more for $4.

The prime rib and cheddar is cheesy, messy and $7.50.

For an extra challenge at Battle and Brew, a prize is won for those who finish the ultimate final level, also known as, “the Death star of burgers,” in under 25 minutes. Between two ultimate grilled cheese sandwiches that already have four slices of cheese, fried mozzarella sticks and bacon each, are two burger patties, three strips of bacon, eight slices of pepperoni, three onion rings, lettuce and tomato. According to management, 25 minutes is plenty of time for some patrons to finish the challenge including dessert to wash it down.
