On this week’s episode of “The Walking Dead,” Rick and Carol make a food run to an abandoned suburban neighborhood. In the meantime, Daryl, Michonne, Tyreese and Bob gather medicine and supplies at a local veterinary school.

Spoiler Alert:

As Rick and Carol venture to find food for the prison, she breaks her silence in regards to murdering Karen and David. Admitting that it was necessary, Carol confesses that she, “was trying to save lives…somebody had to.” However, Rick is skeptical of her confession, especially after Carol tries to explain the situation by comparing it to Rick killing Shane in season two. As the pair continues to search for food, they stumble across two survivors, Ana and Sam, who attempt to help them find food in exchange for a place to stay.

Meanwhile, having lost an entire day due to an unexpected walker attack, Daryl and the others trek through the woods until they come across a gas station. After rewiring a minivan and killing a few walkers, the group arrives at the vet school and searches for the medicinal materials on Hershel’s list. During their quest, Michonne notices Bob suspiciously putting something into his backpack. While attempting to leave the vet school, the group discovers a bottle of liquor instead of medicine in his backpack when he nearly loses it to a group of walkers.

Back at the abandoned neighborhood, Rick and Carol decide to leave following Ana’s fall to the walkers and Sam’s mysterious disappearance. After loading the car, Carol attempts to open the passenger door, but is prevented by a lock. Rick informs her that she’s not allowed to return to the prison.

Three Obsessions:

1.  Bye, bye Carol. After discovering the charred bodies and the murderer, Rick has ousted the motherly caretaker from the prison. Can we pause for a moment to fully grasp that concept? Although Rick believes he made the right decision, I don’t think he understands the repercussions of his actions. How is he going to explain his decision to the rest of the group, especially Daryl? I predict Daryl and his cross bow will search for her. And what about Tyreese? Just like the furious Queen of Hearts, it’ll be “off with her head.” Or will Rick lie to protect Carol? I suspect a lot of drama in the future.

2.  Bob’s troubled history. In episode one of season four, it was interpreted that the U.S. Army medic harbored an alcohol addiction. This episode confirms that suspicion following Bob’s confession to Daryl. However, I want to know what horrific events have led him to this addiction. PTSD? Surviving an injury in Iraq or Afghanistan? Maybe a combination? I’m interested to learn more about the elusive Bob as the season progresses.

3.  No more Governor-hunting for Michonne. After several failed attempts to locate the malicious Governor, the Katana sword-swinging badass has decided to end her search—only after Daryl convinces her that the trail is untraceable and that she should focus on a life at the prison instead. I’m pro-Michonne and her awesome hunting skills, but I agree with Daryl. For now, at least; you know the Governor will return at some point this season.
