Savannah College of Art and Design has finalized the acquisition of four residence halls this week, a press release from the college said this weekend. The residence halls are Barnard Village, Boundary Village and Turner Annex in Savannah and Spring House in Atlanta, Ga.

“Increasing enrollment at the university and the desire to maintain a high quality of life for SCAD students lead to the investment in these facilities for current and future students,” said the press release from Ally Hughes, SCAD’s director of university communications. “Providing a comfortable and safe place to live and work serves only to enhance academic success.”

This announcement comes after a summer long dispute with Florida leasing company, Urban Campus Environments, LLC (UCE), now former owner of the Spring House residence hall. SCAD filed a lawsuit with the Superior Court of Fulton County in June about the dispute with UCE over the price and fees.

“SCAD is now able to adapt quickly to new generations of students and its expectations in student housing,” said the press release. Any plans for future changes or renovations to the Atlanta residence hall were unknown at the time of this writing due to the spokesperson being out on holiday for the Labor Day weekend.

SCAD is working on a $85 million plan to renovate W at the Hive and D at the Hive, two residence halls in Savannah, Ga.
