TAP is a charming gastropub (a bar that serves high-end alcoholic beverages such as cocktails and wine and really great food) near SCADshow.  When patrons first walk into TAP, past the modern picnic table setting in front of the building, they are greeted with a large glass casing coming down from the ceiling that is filled with cardboard boxes, kegs and an array of assorted wines. It is dimly lit with a simplistic design of red chairs and booths with wooden tables. There are a few modestly placed flat screen televisions and one large one behind the bar. Over all it is a very relaxed atmosphere.

I went during their lunch hour on a Friday and most people sat outside. There appeared to be only 2 or 3 servers, but they were all excellent. They worked well to ensure that there was never a drink that wasn’t refilled promptly. The food, although pricy, was worth the $12 it cost for a burger and fries. They also serve tacos, crispy shrimp po-boys and soup. They don’t have just regular ground beef for their burgers, they are half chuck and half brisket. I was a bit apprehensive about this, but the waitress assured me their burger was a crowd favorite. She couldn’t have been more correct. I loved it. You really can’t taste the difference in the beef, but they made sure to put the right amount of condiments on it and to not have a grease soaked bun.

TAP is also known for the various events they have hosted. They had an eight-week trivia tournament in which they gave prizes such as: tickets to a Braves game, a complimentary party including food and beer and a $100 Concentrics gift card. For Mother’s Day they are doing complimentary mimosas. To best stay up to date on upcoming events at TAP, you can follow them on Twitter.

If you are looking for a night out at a nice bar with a more relaxed feel and plenty of beer, then TAP is the best place to go to. And don’t worry about any hassles of parking — they have free valet parking in the car port on the side of the building. TAP is located at 1180 Peachtree Street in Midtown.
