Beauty subscription service Birchbox and beauty retail giant Sephora are swapping domains. Both companies got the idea that the grass was greener on the other side when Sephora launched their own monthly subscription service in September and Birchbox released their own product line in October.

Sephora is joining the likes of Birchbox, Ipsy, BeautyBox5, Glossybox and more with their new subscription service, Play by Sephora. The $10-a-month service features five luxury beauty products centered around a specific theme. Subscribers will be privy to bonus samples, exclusive events and insight from Sephora employees about how to use the sample products. It’s currently being tested in Boston, Columbus and Cincinnati markets before expanding next year.

Birchbox’s new line LOC or Love of Color is starting out small with two keys products: their Vibrant Matte Lipstick in three shades and the One & Done Eyeshadow Stick which comes in five shades. The products retail for $8 and $10 respectively, which differs quite a bit from many of the luxury products from other brands that the company sells on their site. Birchbox teamed up with YouTube beauty sensation star Tati Westbrook, of the GlamLifeGuru channel. A sample of the newly created LOC line is featured in the November batch of Birchbox subscriptions.

If you are a supreme beauty product junky, an adventurous beauty lover or just looking to switch up your beauty routine, Sephora and Birchbox are two companies that are great places to start. Although Sephora’s subscription service isn’t available to the Atlanta area just yet,you can sign up for the waitlist and in the meantime check out Birchbox’s Love of Color line.
