The 14th annual Pumpkin Festival officially kicked off its first weekend at Stone Mountain Park Sep. 30 – Oct. 2, and will offer a variety of activities and events every Friday through Sunday during October.

This year’s festivities include a children’s carnival, storytelling, interactive games, scavenger hunt, a pumpkin patch where guests can decorate their own pumpkins and much more.

“We have a lot of fun, seasonal activities going on,” said Jeremiah Johnson, a park ambassador. “There’s a pie-eating competition and a parade that goes around the park, as well as all of our attractions which we’ve made festive. Our train, for example, is currently featuring a mystery where guests can collect clues and try and solve before the end of the ride.”

Visitors can also view more than 13 themed pumpkin displays throughout the park and see characters like Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and Scarlett O’Hara in pumpkin form.

While many of the activities are for children and families, Johnson said that people of all ages can find something to enjoy at the Pumpkin Festival.

“I definitely think there’s things for older kids and adults to do,” said Johnson, listing the Skyride to the top of the mountain, the 4D theater, the high-ropes course and the museum as several options.

Visitors may also enjoy a picnic among the fall décor as outside food is allowed in the park. Pets are also welcome as long as they remain on a leash and aren’t left unattended.
