Artist talk for Sue Williamson exhibition: ‘Other Voices, Other Cities’
SCAD presents “Making Voices Heard,” a talk by artist Sue Williamson, on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at SCADshow. The artist will discuss her practice and the backstory to her series “Other Voices, Other Cities,” on view Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, through Monday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Gallery 1600. Williamson will also show antecedents of that work, which include 1980s graffiti during the South African apartheid years, the protest writing on the walls of Manley Villa in District Six, Cape Town in the series “From the Inside,” the collaborative wall painting project of Egyptian fisherman’s homes in “What About El Max?” and a series of artwork produced in Havana, Cuba.

Join us for a reception celebrating photography exhibitions “Watershed: The Tennessee River” by Jeff Rich and “Other Voices, Other Cities” by Sue Williamson, on Thursday, Oct. 27 from 6-8 p.m. These exhibitions will be on view through Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at Trois Gallery and Gallery 1600, respectively. Both exhibitions offer engaging examinations of mankind’s relation to the places in which we live.
