Gio Turra, a SCAD Atlanta student and one of the volunteers, said that he was amazed by how much can be done in just one day.

“Someone will be getting a new house in a matter of weeks,” said Turra. “All it takes is the good will of a few volunteers.”

The students were recruited by ACA House Residence Director David DeVillier. The students spent more than eight hours alongside other volunteers helping to build a house and Turra said meeting the other volunteers was his favorite part of the experience.

“The people we worked alongside with were perhaps some of the most well-educated and respectable,” said Turra. “Some have been building houses for this organization for over two decades.”
