In this series I am paying homage to the composite portraits series that Alfred Stieglitz did of Georgia O’Keeffe. Georgia O’Keeffe stated, “Stieglitz idea of a portrait was not just one image; instead it was a composite of pictures addressing an idea and personality too large to fit in a single photograph.” In contrast to Stieglitz portraits, my series is a visual understanding of my subject, Austin, in his normal state of gender fluid. This composite portrait series captures Austin’s true essence through expression, abstraction and movement.
