SCAD-Atlanta student designers participated in the Modern Atlanta Belgium Design and Fashion Show
benefiting Darfur on May 10. The fashion show was one of the spotlight events taking place May 6-11 for Modern Atlanta, a new design initiative.
SCAD-Atlanta, along with Domus and Jeffrey, teamed up with top Belgian designer brands Extremis, Ann
Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten for the fashion show. The designers partnered with international
relief agency CARE to increase awareness and raise funds for humanitarian aid in Darfur through the event.
SCAD-Atlanta students created nature-inspired dresses with amity peace silk, hemp linen and organic cotton. Fashion professor Sarah Collins said, “With this project, I believe that the students were able to achieve fashion-forward looks without sacrificing their environmental and social responsibilities as designers.”
