Get involved! Get published! The Connector and SCAN Magazine are always seeking SCAD students to contribute as reporters, writers, columnists, photographers, designers, videographers, illustrators and/or cartoonists.

All interested students are welcome to attend The Connector’s weekly staff meetings on Fridays at 11 a.m. in The Connector newsroom inside the Spring House computer lab during the fall, winter and spring quarters.

Research and Application Workshop
Feb. 9, 11 a.m.
Spring House computer lab

Establish credibility and round out your stories by using references and quotes. Learn how to define a research plan, set up interviews with subject matter experts and use attribution correctly.

Writing Dos and Don’ts Workshop
Feb. 16, 11 a.m.
Spring House computer lab

Make your writing stronger and discover simple ways to improve your stories. Identify common filler words and clichés and learn how to avoid them, while also learning ways to strengthen transitions, word choice and sentence structure.

The Power of Imagery Workshop
Feb. 23, 11 a.m.
Spring House computer lab

Discover how to create the strongest visuals and learn quick tricks to improve your photography, illustrations and graphics. Understand basic rules for composition and the importance of communicating with writers for cohesive visual elements.

Resume Workshop
March 2, 11 a.m.
Spring House computer lab

Bring a copy of your resume and get feedback on how to improve both copy and layout, and find out the best ways to apply your involvement with student media to your experience and skills.
