Quantum of Solace: A thrill-ride that needs no introduction
By Cassidy Brown
Nov. 14, was an adventure lifetime for my eyes, and ears; a night when the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, opened in theaters! Directed by Marc Foster, this amazing action-stuffed film stars Daniel Craig as the incredible “James Bond,” Olga Kurylenko as the strong, yet lovely “Camille,” and Mathieu Almaric as nemesis “Dominic Greene.”
Quantum of Solace is the twenty-second 007 adventure in the franchise, but it isn’t necessary to see the previous 21 films to enjoy this modern-day British secret agent playboy and his bag of tricks. However, for all those long time 007 fans, this movie picks up right where Casino Royale ends.
I attended the showing with four other SCADees and we were all very pleased with the showing. From the moment the introduction began I knew the film would engross me! The acting was impressive but the action was even more captivating. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, eyes glued to the screen, and I must admit I did jump while watching certain scenes. None of us had anything negative to say about the film. While some critics, like Derek Elley of Variety.com, said “Quantum of Solace plays like an extended footnote to Casino Royale rather than a fully realized, stand-alone movie” I can agree with the fact that this Bond movie is quite different from the rest in the aspect of plot (I won’t spoil it for you), but looking at it aesthetically I can firmly declare that Quantum of Solace achieved its mark as being another great 007 film.
So if you are looking for something exciting to see, or maybe you just need to take your mind off the stresses of college life this is a fantastic movie pick (and don’t forget about the wonderful dollar off with your SCAD card!). Quantum of Solace is absolutely worth it!
