The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch Monday, Sept. 21, which is in effect through the evening.

SCAD students and employees should use extreme caution when traveling. Monitor forecasts and be aware that more dangerous conditions may rapidly develop.  The Weather Service advisory is as follows:

Flood watch
National Weather Service
10:50 a.m. CDT Monday, Sept. 21

A flash flood watch remains in effect through this evening. Through this evening, a series of upper-level disturbances will combine with a very moist air mass across the Tennessee valley to bring more showers and thunderstorms to the area. Additional rainfall amounts up to two inches are possible, with higher amounts locally. This combined with an already saturated ground will further heighten the threat for flash flooding.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
