SCAD Atlanta to field intercollegiate athletics in 2010
SCAD Atlanta announces the commencement of its intercollegiate athletics program beginning Fall 2010. The university will field men’s and women’s teams in three sports: cross country, golf and tennis.
Brad Iftner, a former Division I student-athlete at Eastern Illinois University, has been hired as director of athletics and also will serve as the head tennis coach for both the men’s and women’s teams. Iftner previously coached at Cumberland University and Southern Illinois University Carbondale and was the assistant tennis coach for Purdue University.
Wyatt Graff, a former All-American scholar at SCAD Savannah, has been hired as the head golf coach. Graff played golf all four years as an undergraduate at SCAD Savannah and was a member of their first-ever ranked golf team. Coach Graff, who also served as assistant pro at Fox Meadows Country Club in Medina, Ohio, also passed the P.A.T. (play ability test) at Clemson University’s The Walker Course in Clemson, S.C.
Avard Moncur, a former track standout at Auburn University, has been hired as the head cross country coach. Moncur, a silver medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, is a two-time NCAA Division I champion in the 400 meters (2000, 2001), and in 2001 he finished the year as the top-ranked runner in the world in the 400-meter event.
