This weekend, September 30 through October 3, the Atlanta Greek Festival brings culture, food, entertainment and more to fun-seekers in the Atlanta area. Held at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation on Clairmont Road, visitors can experience the sights and sounds of Greece. Outside the church, guests can eat Greek cuisine, watch performances from the band Alpha Omega Sound and the national award-winning dance group Troupe Hellas: Lykion ton Ellinidon and shop — there will also be activities for kids available. Inside the church, there will be cooking demonstrations, as well as shops and lectures on Orthodoxy and the Greek Orthodox Church.

The Atlanta Greek Festival is a great way to spend the day outdoors and experience the vibrant culture of the Greeks. Yet, as the sun sets, the real fun begins. Troupe Hellas, the adult dancing group of Lykion ton Ellinidon, provides entertainment in the form of colorful costumes and choreography, high kicks and dancing tricks to amaze audiences. The twang of the bouzouki and the soulful sound of Greek folk songs transports guests to the Mediterranean and brings tradition to life. The volunteers and parishioners of the church make anyone Greek for a day as they ask “How do you OPA?”
