Oct. 14
1:45 p.m. — Security received a report from one of the Facilities Staff that there was smoke and a possible fire in the area near the Parking Deck. The Atlanta fire department was called. The Facilities Staff used a fire extinguisher to put out a very small fire, possibly started by someone flipping a cigarette butt into the side of the road. The fire department arrived and soaked the area to make sure that there was no flare up in the dry brush.
Oct. 15
Noon — The Security Manager was called to the Office of the Dean of Student Services and informed that a room search was going to happen at the Spring House Dorm due to the report of a student having weapons in their dorm room. Due to the nature of the weapons reported, Midtown Blue was called to assist the Security Manager and the Resident Life Director. Several weapons were found. The student and the weapons were taken to the Dean of Student Services.
Oct. 16
7 a.m. — On the above date and time Security found graffiti in the tunnel behind the main building. Maintenance was notified and the graffiti was removed. Video is being reviewed by SCAD Security and Midtown Blue to determine suspects.
Oct. 17
2:17 a.m. — The fire alarm for the Main Building sounded and the building was evacuated. The Atlanta fire department responded and a search of the building was done to determine cause. No problems were noted. Alarm panel would not reset so a call was placed to the on call maintenance.
9:30 a.m. — The fire alarm for the Main Building sounded and the building was evacuated. The fire department responded. A smoke detector was found to be in alarm and it would not reset. Call was placed to maintenance and they called the Fire Alarm Company to send a tech out to replace the smoke detector.
Oct. 20
6:50 p.m. — A student reported that she had left an iPod in her class when she went on break. When she returned the iPod was gone.
Oct. 21
5:30 p.m. A student reported that she had backed into another car parked on the lower level of the Main Campus parking deck. Atlanta police responded to do a private property report.
Oct. 26
3:42 p.m. — Two students became trapped on an elevator in the A building. An elevator tech was dispatched and the students were released at 4:09 p.m.
