Summer Makeup

Makeup is a crucial part of any outfit. It’s a fun way to dress up a look and just as much an accessory as a necklace. But with the warmer weather rolling in, our makeup is in major danger. No more will foundations stay matte, and say goodbye to on-point eyeliner. All that will sweat off before the day is up. So what’s the solution to this formidable foe we call summer? Well it’s time to break out the waterproof makeup and mattifying products. Whether you’re a girl on the run or if you just need everything to stay in place for that special date, these are some tips that can keep you looking fresh faced this summer.

Tip #1: Matte products will become your best friend during the summer. They’re the best products to use to help reduce any oily appearance your makeup might get. These helpful products come in sprays and powders, but be careful about them though. Some make your face look completely dry while others help you maintain a dewy appearance. If you need help picking one try this matte finishing spray by NYX. Tons of good reviews and won’t break bank. Just spray some on your brush before you apply your foundation or spray it on after all your makeup is in place, and you’re good to go.

Tip #2: Try the naked look. Concealers are the better way to go in the warmer weather. With foundation you run the risk of removing most of it as you blot away shine. Using a concealer reduces any melting makeup and helps skin breathe more. Try a more sticky concealer though, like one of the stick formulas, instead of a liquid. They’ll stay on better. Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer is lightweight and efficient. Definitely worth the buy.

Tip #3: Foundations during the summer are always tricky. If you don’t feel comfortable just wearing concealer, try a tinted moisturizer. These products add full coverage without wearing down the skin. Picking the right one can even help add a nice glow to the skin too. This bb cream by Maybelline is multitasking and won’t break bank like other BB Creams out there today.

Tip #4: Waterproof your eyes. Now if you matte your makeup properly this step might not be needed, but if you’re someone that likes to wear their makeup poolside then this is a must. Imagine, after taking a dip in the pool you go to dry your face and your face stays on the towel. It’s a nightmare that is easily fixed with some waterproof eyeliner and mascara. Tinted moisturizers are also best for the water too. Maybelline makes really good waterproof mascara, their Great Lash mascara is amazing. Stila, on the other hand, makes good waterproof eyeliner.

Tip #5: Beware looking too bright. Highlighting is a neat little trick that can bring attention to certain parts of the face. But with the sun already adding a natural glow to the face it’s easy to look over-highlighted. It’s best to ease back on the highlighting or else you could give yourself a false oily look.

Tip #6: Skip the lipsticks and try a stain or tinted balm. Even lipsticks can begin to feel heavy during in the heat. Trading your heavy cream based lipstick for a stain or balm will be lighter and more moisturizing. You won’t even have to skimp on color. There are tons of colors to choose from when it comes to stains and balms. It’s like having the best of both worlds. Revlon’s ColorBurst collection are great balms but their original ColorBurst product is a balm and stain. A nice two in one product for a good price.

So these are some tips to keep in mind when you hit the beauty aisle. No more will your face melt away with the summer. Now your makeup can beat the heat.
