The Connector recognizes exemplary photo work produced by SCAD students. This week’s featured photo is by second year student Mario Fernando.
Fernando said: “The name of the work is ‘Wander.’ I got the inspiration from the quote ‘not all who wander are lost’ and I started to come up with a concept for a photograph. It was originally intended for a project for creative thinking where the student had to show their aesthetic. This made me do some soul searching on how I could best translate that in one piece of media. I originally shot a video for the final product but I took photographs to go along with it.”
“This represents a time in my work where I was inspired by contradictions and paradox. For example, this image was edited as if it were aged and was tinted in another era. It also, however, has a modern model in it. There is a certain harmony in putting two extreme opposites together that appeals to me. As an artist, I think that everyone should experiment with this at one point in their lives.”
