Ivy Hall Writers Series presents Blake Butler
Join those who love good writing and hear Blake Butler read from his latest novel, “300,000,000,” a unique and unforgettable story centering on dystopian dreams and American suburbs.
Butler is the author of other popular fiction including “There is No Year: A Novel” and “Nothing: A Portrait of Insomnia.” In addition, Butler writes for the popular Vice magazine and once edited the literary blog Htmlgiant.
Butler’s reading will be held at Ivy Hall, 179 Ponce de Leon Ave., on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m.

SCAD Atlanta students are invited take the short trip to the colorful and fun Plaza Fiesta on Buford Highway, where you will find a mix of cultures, products and sounds. We’ll depart from the SCAD Bookstore at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 and return around 2 p.m. Transportation is free and lunch is on your own.
Considered by many to be the heart of the Latin American community in Georgia, Plaza Fiesta has more than 280 restaurants and shops that feature great food, electronic equipment, clothing, shoes, accessories and more.

aTVfest, Feb. 5-7, announces lineup
The 2015 aTVfest will celebrate preeminent television and media productions Thursday, Feb. 5 through Saturday, Feb. 7 at several SCAD Atlanta locations, including the SCADshow theater, the Digital Media Center and the main SCAD Atlanta campus at 1600 Peachtree St.
SCAD is honoring top names from television including Terrence Howard from FOX’s “Empire,” who will receive the Spotlight Award. Timothy Hutton – starring in ABC’s new series from Oscar winner John Ridley – “American Crime” will receive the Icon Award. Several cast members from ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder,” including Jack Falahee, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Karla Souza, Charlie Weber and Liza Weil, will receive the Rising Star Award. All honorees are set to attend screenings of respective episodes with additional cast members to be announced.
Mindy Kaling of FOX’s “The Mindy Project” will also be in attendance with her writing team. Kaling will screen her show and will participate in an insightful panel discussion immediately following.
