How many times have we heard our elders say “Dating today isn’t how it was back in my day?” There is always the perception that the following generation is a lot less wholesome than the previous, but millennials are different. Of course, there are still people who want no-strings-attached sex, but most want something that will last.

Millennials have created a world where finding the right person is so important that they search for them on their phone while waiting in line at the grocery store.

There are tons of apps and websites created to help people find love. The number one dating site, Match.com generated $788.2 million in sales for the year of 2014 alone, according to news.investors.com with the biggest user group ranging from ages  25-44 . People don’t spend money on a website where they have to answer countless questions in order to hook-up. They do it because the idea of meaningless interaction with a person they have no hopes of being with is a waste of time. According to CNN, “Out of 20,928 undergraduates surveyed by the National Center for Education Statistics in 2008, about 18 percent  reported they were married.” This did not include the number of students dating or engaged.

Millennials are also the generation that has shown the most support for the LGBT community. They want monogamous relationships and they would like for people of all sexual orientations to have the same rights.

Millennials are not a bunch of anti-monogamists solely interested in hooking-up with their latest Tinder match. They are searching for one special person to be a part of a meaningful relationship.
