Hey, all, it’s Kate Betts with our next Writers’ Corner piece! This poem, ‘Choices,’ is by LuAnne DeMeo.
by LuAnne DeMeo
I feel a part of everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
I’m just a mind full of questions and a soul looking to be free.
This indignation causes my choices to be unsure.
It can swallow people whole, though my heart longs to be pure.
The uncertainty confines me.
Please don’t leave me alone, but please don’t come any closer.
I hear an inner voice.
Not always deafening.
Not always transparent.
Sometimes just a shiver, but is it my own?
Is someone there?
Are you innocent or are you corrupt?
How do I choose?
The moments are fleeting. Will I have the time to find a way to be?
Will my destination accept me so I can finally breathe?
