Christmas is almost here and so is “Elf,” the Broadway musical showing from Dec. 2-6 at the Fox Theatre. What could be better than kicking off winter break by watching the stage adaptation of the 2003 movie “Elf,” starring Will Ferrell? “Elf” is the tale of a young orphan, Buddy, who is raised by Santa in the North Pole as an elf. When Buddy finds out that he is actually human, Santa allows him to go to New York City to find his real birth father.
The play’s principal cast includes Daniel Patrick Smith who will star as Buddy. Smith’s recent credits include “The Tempest,” “Twelfth Night” and “Panic! The Musical.” The cast also features Ken Clement as Santa. He was also in “Burn Notice,” “The Glades” and “Magic City.” Maggie Anderson plays Jovie, one of Santa’s elves; Anderson has been in notable plays like “Peter Pan,” “Anyone Can Whistle” and “Seussical.” Last but not least, Harper S. Brady plays Michael; Brady has previously been in “Les Miserables,” “A Christmas Carol” and “Annie Get Your Gun.”
Not only is “Elf” sure to wow with its seasoned cast members, but it will also feature songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin. This production will be directed by Sam Scalamoni and choreographed by Connor Gallagher.
