SCAD DAY: Photography Dept. Shows How it’s Done
by Frances Claudio-Vargas.
This quarter started with a bang, and we couldn’t be more excited. On Saturday, Jan. 16, the first SCAD Day of 2016, the Photography and Fashion department teamed up to give their guests a taste of the daily SCAD life. The photo spectacular, organized by Michael O’brien, the chair of Photography and Dejan Agatonovic, the Dean of Fashion, commenced with a warm and inviting welcome. The dual photo sessions were led by two of SCAD Atlanta’s leading Fashion Photography seniors, Vegas Giovanni and Christian Cody. The shoot was divided into two different sets; white on white, and black on black. Both photographer’s aesthetics resonated greatly with each session. Christian Cody’s photography focused more on shape and movement, while Vegas Giovanni’s photography focused on color and drama. The garments for this photo session consisted of pieces from SCAD’s alumni.
With the help of the faculty from both fashion and photography, both photographers demonstrated what creating fashion imagery is all about. To say the day was a success it’s more than an understatement, the presence and interest of the guests were never ending. It was a great opportunity to showcase some of SCAD’s awesome talents and we couldn’t be more proud of them. We can’t wait for what is yet to come, and the future opportunities for showcasing more from our SCAD family.
