Fitness is getting a bit more personal with the newest gadget in fashion tech: the OMbra by OMSignal. OmSignal is a company specializing in fitness tech with items like their smart men’s compression shirt. The OMbra is a sports bra integrated with wireless technology that pushes data to your phone. It has adjustable straps, removable padded cups and stretchable fabric. The main part of the bra is the Smart Box that is a part of the lower band of the bra. It works in conjunction with flexible sensors within the bra to track things like heart rate, blood pressure and fitness goals. It’s self-adjusting to keep up with the way the body fluctuates over time.
The concept of wirelessly pushing data to a smartphone app is not a new one. Fitness tracking devices such as the Fitbit, Jawbone UP and even the Apple Watch have their own version of technology that streams stats to your phone. The only difference is the seamless way that OMSignal integrates the technology closer to the body through a sport bra versus a bracelet on the arm.
According to Mashable, “The start-up kit is $149 for a bra and the fitness tracker — additional bras are $59 (the fitness core can be detached from one and connected to another).” If you’re itching to snag an OMbra when it comes out this spring, sign up for early access on the site.
