The 135th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 11 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Midtown, followed by celebrations at Colony Square and Atlantic Station.
The parade, which is one of the largest St. Patrick’s day celebrations in the South, will feature more than 2,000 Irish dancers, musicians, balloons, floats and local and Irish dignitaries. The parade route begins by the Woodruff Arts Center at Peachtree Street and 15th Street, and ends at Peachtree Street and 5th Street.
Following the parade, Colony Square is set to host “Luck of the Square,” the official post-parade party, at Peachtree Street and 14th Street. The event will feature live music, Irish fare and dancing until 4 p.m.
Also celebrating after the parade, are Radio 105.7, Meehan’s Public House and Atlantic Station, who are set to present “Shamrock the Station.” The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 1 p.m. with a St. Patrick’s party featuring family-friendly activities and Irish dancing. Live music begins at 5 p.m. and will feature performances from bands Judah and the Lion, Bleeker and Coin, as well as local band Kick the Robot.
Attendees 21 years of age and older at “Shamrock the Station” can purchase drink wristbands for $5 that include one free drink. Atlantic Station recommends using a ride-share service such as Uber or Lyft if attendees are planning on drinking. The pick-up and drop-off point for these services is 17th 1/2 Street at Atlantic Station. For attendees going to or coming from the parade, Atlantic Station recommends their free shuttle to the Arts Center MARTA station which is within walking distance of the parade route.
