SCAD Atlanta’s SERVE joined Zoo Atlanta in their annual Halloween celebration, Boo at the Zoo, Oct. 21. The event offered fun activities for children such as costume contests, games and an inflatable corn maze.

SERVE volunteers helped set up candy booths and hand out candy bags to the young visitors.

“I thought it was a really nice way to help out the community and I had a wonderful time just sitting with the kids and talking to them about their favorite animals,” said Harisa Sheikh, a third-year animation major.

Students enjoyed assisting the big mascot at the zoo and some even dressed up in onesies to blend in with the festivities.

Natasha Chandel, president of SERVE, said she had a great time organizing the event for everyone. “The highlight was seeing happy and cute kids celebrate Halloween,” said Chandel. “We were so happy to be part of such a fun event.”

The event also featured opportunities to learn about sustainability as guests were encouraged to learn more about sustainable Halloween candy choices and the impact of unsustainable palm oil harvesting on wildlife.
