SCADFILM to present ‘Psycho’ and ’78/52′ at SCADshow
A tribute to Hitchcock's masterful storytelling, SCADFILM offers two viewing experiences for classic horror fans.
SCADFILM is scheduled to host a two-part presentation at SCADshow with the film “Psycho” followed by the 2017 documentary “78/52” about the infamous shower scene.
Students can experience “Psycho” on the big screen at SCADshow on Jan. 23 at 6;30 p.m. The film is known to be one of the most iconic horror films ever made. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, “Psycho” is not only famous for the shower scene but its invaluable contribution to the horror genre.
The numbers that make up the title of “78/52” refer to the number of camera setups and cuts in the shower scene. Following the screening of the documentary on Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m., there will be a discussion with the film’s award-winning director Alexandre O. Phillipe, who will elaborate on the the details of the shower scene and discuss the film’s cultural significance.
Students are looking forward to an opportunity to learn more about such an iconic film. “Watching and breaking down Hitchcock’s ‘Psycho’ will teach me a lot as a film maker, especially his style and work in the suspense and thriller genres,” said Manahar Kumar, a graduate student in film and television.
Entry is free for students, faculty and staff with a valid SCAD ID. Please register for both events here.
