Mark your calendars this week for SCAD’s annual FASHWKND event. The sartorial event will take place from Thursday, May 17 to Sunday, May 20 at both SCAD’s Atlanta and Savannah locations. The event will feature students’ senior and graduate collections of original fashion and accessory designs in addition to a talk with SCAD Étoile honoree and fashion designer Derek Lam.
Atlanta and Savannah fashion shows
There will be a fashion showcase and runway show in Atlanta and Savannah respectively. Savannah’s runway show comes first on Friday, May 18 at the Trustee’s Theatre with two time slots — an afternoon show at 4 p.m. and evening show at 7 p.m. Although tickets for the Savannah runway show are sold out, students can still join the 7 p.m. show via online live stream here. Atlanta’s fashion showcase will be on Sunday, May 20 at SCAD FASH, starting at 2:30 p.m. with a first-look reception. The general public admittance begins 3 p.m. The showcase is spread out to five sessions, each spaced 10 minutes apart to allow for a steady influx of guests. Atlanta FASHWKND events
FASHWKND’s “SCAD: In Conversation” event will be led by SCAD Étoile honoree and fashion designer Derek Lam on Saturday, May 19, 3 p.m. at SCADShow. The conversation is free and open to the public. Complimentary parking is available at 1600 Peachtree and shuttles will pick up guests on the entrance side of the building beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Savannah FASHWKND events
There will be a Fashion and Accessory Design Static Show in Savannah’s May Poetter Gallery. The show presents collections from senior and graduate students and is free to the public. The exhibition is on view for four days, from Thursday, May 17 to Sunday, May 20.
A two-day jewelry trunk show will feature unique and original designs from SCAD jewelry students, faculty and alumni. The event will be at Savannah’s Jen Library and is free to the public. Opening times are Thursday, May 17, 4-8 p.m. and Friday, May 18, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
