Anxiety can feel like a tall mountain you have to get over. Sometimes it feels like there’s nothing that can be done about it. However, there are some tricks to help you combat the feelings of anxiety.

Identify what makes you anxious

Anxiety triggers can wear many faces. Recognizing those faces is the first step in managing them. Observe yourself when you get anxious and try to get to the root of the problem. It could be school problems, relationship issues or anything in between. Pay attention to how you react to different situations.

Confront your triggers

After you identify what makes you anxious, confront these issues. Anxiety convinces you to avoid these triggers, but that never solves anything. Take small steps to face the things that make you anxious in order to develop a healthier approach to them over time.

Be patient with yourself

Anxiety can convince you that everything is your fault. There is no real blame to be placed on anyone or anything. Getting frustrated and impatient only worsens the symptoms and lowers your self-esteem and confidence.

Take steps to overcome your anxiety — because you can overcome it.
