Jewelry design students from Savannah had their innovative accessories on display
Guests and students were able to witness creative and innovative jewelry designs from SCAD Savannah students at SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film’s salon.
The various designs created ranged from rings and earrings to necklaces and bracelets, all created in different mediums. These were artfully showcased in jewelry boxes, shelfs and on small round platforms.
The overall theme of the trunk show was the creation of unconventional jewelry relating to the unusual and irregular.
The images shown above are designs by Shaolinyi Fan, a graduate student majoring in jewelry design. Fan transforms thermoplastic materials into interesting design objects. In this jewelry set, the audience was able to witness her personal language, one that is related to the body by having visual and tactile elements.
Tianyi Zhang is another student whose work was displayed at the trunk show. Zhang uses jewelry as a medium to express her inner world, a concept she finds easier to explore through form rather than words. Through her work, the audience was able to see her incorporation and vivid use of color, texture and form to create both a sensible and vulnerable concept.
The square rings pictured below were constructed with a sterling silver base and decorated with acrylic paint.
Throughout the showcase there was a diverse selection to please all styles and desires. Guests had the opportunity to experience this world of unconventional jewelry in an intimate manner, without any glass windows stopping the interaction.
