I am a second-year film and television student at SCAD originally from south Florida. I took up photography in the summer of 2017, when I bought my first camera and I started shooting my family, friends and things that I just thought looked nice. The more I got into it, I realized I still had so much to learn, so I started watching videos and learning about what makes a good photo. For me, photography is one of those creative outlets that I turn to for inspiration.
As a photographer, I have the creative decision about what I want in the frame and how it looks. And since it’s so easy to snap a pic, it’s easy to snap a bunch and draw inspiration from them for other photos. It’s a cycle of creativity.
I value and appreciate all forms of photography, but I would have to say my favorite is either portrait or live performance. I love people and I enjoy capturing their beauty and natural emotion.
Right now, my main source of inspiration is my best friend, Alex Otway. He pushed me out of my comfort zone and introduced me to new concepts and ideas that I’ve never heard of. I also use nature and my experiences to guide me on my creative journey.
My best advice to other artists is to find new avenues to promote creativity and don’t stop until you find what your heart is into. My goal is to hopefully get into more commercial and specifically concert photography.
