Over the weekend I had the opportunity of visiting the Hernando de Soto Bridge which spans across the Mississipi river, linking Tennessee to Arkansas. It is a major landmark in Memphis, Tennessee and one of the city’s most popular features. As a photographer currently based in Georgia, I aim to travel to nearby places like this more often to experience new views and lifestyles.

While there, I learned that the bridge was finished in the 1970s and was named after the Spanish explorer, Hernando de Soto, who traveled through America in the 16th-century. There was also a sign that said people believed his body was buried in the Mississippi River.

I also got some cool aerial photos with my drone of the bridge. It’s actually way more massive than it looks. I had my drone over 1500 meters away to fit the bride in the frame.

There was also an observatory deck at the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World which allowed me to see the entire Memphis skyline. Fun Fact: To get to the observatory, I went on the tallest free-standing elevator in the USA (located in Bass Pro Shops).

I would definitely try to visit here again to capture it around golden hour or sunset, and to spend some more time exploring the food and music city of Memphis.
