The Out Front Theater Company launches their latest production of the play, “La Cage Aux Folles” with a team of local LGBTQ+ actors and performers. Paul Conroy, the director of the play said “La Cage helped to push open the closet door, and that’s why this old-fashioned play is still important and relevant today.”
The play had a diverse range of performers who were true to form and resonated with theatrical elements that the stage needs. Along with 16 songs sung by the actors and the Cagelles, the theater was as lively and gay as one should expect it to be.
Christina Kelly, a second-year Performing Arts student said, “The play was great! Very entertaining, every single character was brought to life.”
Allison Hambrick, a fourth-year writing student said, “When I heard that Out Front Theater Company was putting on La Cage aux Folles, I was ecstatic.” The thespian fanatic added, “I’ve been a huge fan of Harvey Fierstein, who wrote the book for the musical, for as long as I can remember, so seeing a diverse local cast bring it to life is what theater geeks’ dreams are made of.”
The play is on view until Nov, 9 at the Out Front Theater, for more information click here.
