The most unique accessories from spring/summer 2020 runway shows
The recently passed spring/summer 2020 runway shows prove the upcoming retail seasons will be packed with peculiar and uncommon shoes accessories.
Unique accessories that were modeled on the runway shows from New York to London include: platform shoes, boots, belts, and jewelry from a variety of designers. These accessories are special because they carry concepts people don’t necessarily see on a daily basis. They’re elaborate and give off a particular vibe—the kind of vibe you couldn’t find anywhere else except down the innovating high fashion runway.
Shoes
The fashion industry has seen platforms before, but 13 t straps in just one shoe is a little different. The illustration below is a recreation from Fyodor Golan’s Spring/Summer 2020 Pantastic collection, shown in London Fashion Week. Through his collection, Golan wanted to feature a set of identities with each look. The designer highlighted this idea through these pair of (extremely) strappy platforms.
Another shoe that stole fashion week’s heart were a pair of baby pink heeled boots with sheer fabric gathered at the edges. Graduate illustration student Kat Ash said, “It’s like doll-like meets sexy with leather, meant to be completely shown off with a little bit of leg. For me, it kind of comes off as a step back in time, juxtaposing different time period styles.”
These boots were part of GCDS’ 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection. The brand’s, God Can’t Destroy Streetwear, Italian designer Giuliano Calza where his vision for this season was over the top, intricate streetwear. Accessories
Gucci garments are always a fan favorite, and these sunglasses and chokers are a perfect example why. In the Italian brand’s latest Spring/Summer 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection, they feature chunky sunglasses and chokers paired together. The collection’s accessories accentuated implied sexiness by highlighting the neck and drawing attention to the face.
The sunglasses’ geometric shapes standout despite being the brand’s notable and re-used styles The two thick chokers embrace Gucci’s love for motifs, making this a statement piece as well. Fourth-year fashion design student Cecilia Xie said, “I like it, it’s so extra!” when asked about the pieces.
Belts
Belts in the fashion industry have seen significant manipulation in terms of not only design, but placement and use. In Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection there exist multiple possibilities within belting pants. Marc Jacobs’ collection and its chosen accessories are eye catching and distinct with their big attitude and sense of individuality.
Luxury and fashion management graduate student Sophia Kunju Herrera said, “The floral palazzo pants are a trend during Spring/Summer and by pairing it with double belts, it gives more of an edgy style to the look and kind of a retro look.”
