Check out these events happening in Atlanta over the Christmas break
As the fall quarter is finally coming to an end and the uncertainty of what to do during the Christmas break starts surfacing, here are some events and festivals that are taking place that students may be interested in.
November
Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at Atlanta Botanical Garden:
Experience the Skylights Lounge in the Skyline Garden. Plus, several larger-than-life plant giants from Imaginary Worlds: Alice’s Wonderland awash in holiday glow. Ariana Grande Concert:
See this artist perform live at State Farm Arena, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m.
Atlanta Chinese Lantern Festival:
This festival has returned to the holiday programming in Centennial Olympic Park. This year’s theme, entitled “Into the Wild” will feature handcrafted lanterns of over 25 different kinds of animals on both land and sea, including depictions of endangered species highlighting the importance of animal protection. There will also be merchandise booths as well as authentic asian cuisine, music and performances. This festival kicks off on Friday, Nov. 22, through Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, from 6-11 p.m.
December
A Magical Cirque Christmas:
Experience the magic of Christmas with dazzling performers and breathtaking cirque artists from all corners of the world, accompanied by your favorite holiday music performed live. This performance occurs on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 7:30-10:30 p.m., at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. For more information, visit the event’s website here.
Stranger Con: Stranger things:
The hit Netflix show comes to life at the only Stranger Things convention in the Southeast. See the city where the show was filmed and meet the cast throughout the two-day weekend. This event is happening on Saturday, Dec. 14, to Sunday, Dec. 15, at Hyatt Regency Arena. For more information, visit the event’s website here.
iHeart Radio Jingle Ball 2019
Experience many popular artists, such as the Jonas Brothers, Khalid, Niall Horan, French Montana, Why Don’t We, Lewis Capaldi and Zara Larsson perform live at State Farm Arena. This concert is happening on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit their website here.
Holiday Tree Lighting at the Georgia Aquarium:
Join in on kicking off the holiday season with the aquarium’s annual tree lighting. This exclusive event is a limited ticketed event, giving you access to Georgia Aquarium’s galleries one hour before they open to the general public. Guests attending this event will be treated to hot chocolate and holiday treats, holiday carols, a tree lighting ceremony and a penguin waddle.
