The “Fashioning Art from Paper” exhibit by Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave is being showcased currently at SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film.

In conjunction with this exhibition, on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 12 p.m., the Italian Renaissance scholar, Sarah Mellot Cadagin, joins SCAD FASH to give a talk, “Moda Alla Medici: Fashioning the Self in Renaissance Florence.”

At this event, Cadagin will be explaining the contexts of each elaborate dress worn by the Medici family — related to the culture of the Italian Renaissance. The artist, de Borchgrave, has created beautiful papered versions of those dresses worn by the Medicis, which can be viewed at the SCAD FASH museum. The Medici family was known as the “godfathers of the Renaissance,” as they were very well-known throughout Italy, being powerful political brokers and quite influential contributors to art in the 15th to 16th century.

This is event is free for museum members and SCAD Card holders and open to the public with a cost of admission.
