Protect yourself and others from the flu
As flu and virus season continues, SCAD reminds you to take basic preventive measures to keep yourself healthy. Follow these simple steps to help stop the flu and other viruses from spreading:
- Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread that way.
- Schedule an appointment with a medical professional at the first sign of illness.
- Early symptoms of the flu are fever, body aches, and cough.
- If you get sick, stay home from work and school, and limit contact with others. Postpone your return to classes until you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours.
- Try to stay in good general health. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, and eat right.
Flu vaccines are available for a fee at many local pharmacies and medical practices. Many insurers will cover the flu vaccine at no cost to the subscriber; you may want to consult with your insurance company.
