Experience a rare performative lecture by artist Robert Wilson
Creative and innovative director and visual artist Robert Wilson visited SCAD earlier this week for a rare performance of his lecture, “1. Have you been here before, 2. No this is the first time”. He also discussed the cutting edge ideas his work suggests during an informal Q&A session with the audience. It was an honor to have his work performed at SCAD — showing and inspiring students as well as the rest of the audience — that it’s okay to do things differently.
Wilson has been granted numerous awards for excellence including a Pulitzer Prize nomination and the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale. In addition to these top awards, he also is the founder and artistic director of the Watermill Center, a laboratory for the arts in Water Mill, N.Y. Adding to all of his amazing work, Wilson has also collaborated with writers as well as musicians, such as Heiner Müller, Tom Waits, Susan Sontag, Lou Reed, Jessye Norman and Anna Calvi.
This performance took place at SCADshow on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at noon, and was presented as part of SCAD deFINE ART 2020, the university’s annual program of exhibitions, lectures, and performances that was held Feb. 18-20 at university locations in Atlanta and Savannah.
