Atlanta locations closing due to spreading coronavirus (COVID-19)
As we all know, the coronavirus strain COVID-19 has spread to Atlanta, with various cases across different counties. As a result, many businesses and schools have decided to close as safety measures for their customers as well as their staff. Here is a list of places that may be relevant to SCAD students:
- Savannah College of Art and Design (all locations): Out of the concern for the health of its students, faculty and staff, SCAD has decided to not hold regular on-ground classes at all campus locations during the spring quarter. All classes will instead be held online (more information available in SCAD’s email to all students).
- West Cobb Library: This library will remain closed until further notice as a result of one of its employees having possible exposure to the COVID-19 disease.
- Canton Waffle House: This business has closed temporarily due to one of its workers testing positive for the coronavirus.
- CNN Studio: Tours has been stopped for an unspecified amount of time during the coronavirus outbreak.
- South Fulton Fire Station 15: The station has closed due to firefighters responding to the school where a teacher tested positive for coronavirus.
This is not a complete list. Other places have closed and will be closing over the next few days due to the outbreak.
Please remember to wash your hands for at least 30 seconds, do not touch your face, try not to touch elevator buttons, door handles or shake people’s hands. Also, if you are sick, please go see a doctor and stay away from people as much as possible, as this can all help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 disease.
Regularly check the news for new updates on the COVID-19 disease and any information from the CDC. Students can also keep up to date with SCAD’s news updates on the coronavirus here.
