U-Haul announces free storage for all college students
Many students — both international and local — are experiencing storage issues as their schools have shut down due to the rapidly spreading coronavirus (COVID-19.) Many colleges are urging students to move out of the residence halls and as a result of this, they need to store their belongings that aren’t easily portable. Displaced SCAD students, of which some students have moved out of the residence halls and gone back home, are amongst those affected. However, there are the few that stayed back as they are in need to find a place to store the stuff from their rooms and properly figure out what their next move is going to be.
Fortunately, storage company U-Haul has publicly announced via Twitter that they will be offering all students who have to move out 30 days of free storage. They are also offering special rates for U-Haul trucks and trailer rentals. They don’t just want to provide a service, but instead help their community during this trying time, as they want their customers and potential customers to know that “U-Haul cares.”
SCAD has given its students until the end of the month before officially closing the academic buildings and all of its facilities. The residence halls will be open, but there will be limited resources available for the students who stay living on-campus.
Students can contact the company for more information on this special deal or visit U-Haul website here.
Students are also encouraged to check their school emails for updates from SCAD with regards to the coronavirus situation. Updates are also posted here.
