Last Friday, Atlanta-based artist Theylovefrioo released a new music video on YouTube, and it might be one of his best.
The up-and-coming artist has been teasing fans for what seemed like forever, but the wait was well worth it. Then again, at this point, he has yet to let me down.
The “On My Nerves” music video visuals are dynamic, creative and cohesive. Underneath all of that, there is an actual storyline screaming to come out. It does, but I believe this new video proves that the artist is growing into more of a visual and lyrical storyteller every day.
Ryan Henry Knight, in the director’s chair, shows off his signature zoom-ins and energetic whip pans. He works closely with frequent collaborator Noble Pryor, who was responsible for the nostalgic VHS photography that glued the project together.
“We actually had a wild storyline set in stone at the beginning of the project, but after a few set-backs we had to tone it down a bit. But nonetheless, we’re super proud of the final product and we’re so happy it was well-received,” said Knight.
My favorite part I was tempted not to mention, but I must, is the hair flip. The flip comes after the slowdown in the middle of the song in time with the beat.
There are many moments where actions line up with the song’s catchy beat. Small edits, like a hair flip, must be mentioned because editing is an art form in itself. Even if you don’t appreciate editing like I do, it’s nice to see Theylovefrioo feeling himself.
