Motion media feature: Robert Burton’s Arcade Party
The artist of this piece is the talented Robert “Bobby” Burton. Burton is a fourth-year motion media design student here at SCAD. Burton is a man of multiple talents across the board, and many of them are seen here in his animation, suitably titled “Arcade Party.”
Burton created this piece for one of his classes. For his assignment, he had to create an animation to accompany any piece of music. Burton chose the song “Kitty” by Snail’s House. He decided to represent the fun and upbeat tone of the song through a variety of abstract and representational forms colorfully morphing and exploding in rhythm with the song.
Before receiving this submission, I asked Burton to send me a piece he felt best reflected his growth as an artist. For Burton, this piece is important because it shows the improvement of his skill in such a short amount of time, especially in terms of learning new software. This is one of the first motion media pieces he created after acquiring his new skills.
Burton continues to grow and improve in creating these amazing animations. If you want to see more of his journey, his Instagram is @arcadeparty, cleverly named after this piece.
