The Magic of Photography Without a Darkroom or a Camera: Lumen Printing
Friday, April 16, 10 a.m. – noon
Lumen printing is a photographic process using light and light sensitive materials for creating images — without a camera or a darkroom. This workshop will introduce participants to the history of the camera-less image and its resurgence within contemporary art practice using the Lumen printing process. Participants will explore different materials and techniques for creating these unique images.

Oakland Cemetery Type Hunt
Friday, April 16, 1-3 p.m.
Oakland Cemetery Less than a mile from the heart of downtown Atlanta, a hidden treasure, a secret sanctuary, welcomes you. This garden cemetery, founded in 1850, is the final resting place of many of Atlantas settlers, builders, and most noted citizens like Bobby Jones, Margaret Mitchell, and Maynard Jackson. While walking through the cemetery on a self-guided tour, use your phone or camera to record at least 10 different examples of fonts. Capture overall images of the monument, as well as details of the typography and articulate how cultural messages are conveyed in each of the 2 you identified: classic, modern, formal, informal, emotional, etc. Supplies needed by participants: Camera or a phone with a camera.

Power of Lines: Life Drawing
Friday, April 16, 1-3 p.m.
Develop your own personality and style through line-work is the most important step to becoming a great craftsman in fine arts and for students in jewelry design, interior design, illustration, fashion, furniture and industrial design. Supplies needed by participants: Materials to bring: Sketchpad pad (12X16 or 18X24), graphite pencils, charcoal pencils. kneaded rubber erasers, white erasers.

Frame It: Upcycled picture frames
Friday, April 16, 4-6 p.m.
Join professor Whittington as we learn how to frame small artworks using upcycled frames producing professionally presented work in this workshop. Students will learn spray painting methods to create a uniform finish on the upcycled frame, float mounting and hinge mount techniques.
