Illustration feature: Riley Lucero and fish-eye perspective
The artist who created this excellently colored piece is Riley Lucero, a second-year animation student with a focus in technical animation.
Creating this illustration was a self-imposed challenge for Lucero, as he had rarely done dramatic perspectives. He decided to add a fish-eye distortion to further push the appeal of the piece and teach himself an entirely new skill.
Lucero also tried something new when it came to the color and line-art style of the piece. Rather than the more blended style he usually uses, Lucero experimented with cell-shading to create dimension within the piece. The illusion of dimension and depth is also further brought out by the use of a limited color palette, highlighting his masterful understanding of value.
