Award seasons are back, and the celebrities are definitely here to make a statement with their fashion choices. The MTV Movie and TV Awards is a show where people have fun without taking themselves too seriously. They have a big focus on pop culture, so it includes a lot of mainstream TV, movie, and social media stars. The fashion was awesome this year, and there were some inspiring trends on the red carpet.
Bold colors
After a year of boring sweatsuits and athletic wear, we are all ready for some color in our lives. Just like at the Oscars, there were a lot of bold colors on the carpet. From bright red to neon colors, celebrities were not shy in using color to their advantage. Bold colors were also used to make an otherwise boring outfit more interesting. This summer, get ready to bring out your inner rainbow and just have fun with color.
All-black
Funnily enough, we also saw a lot of all-black outfits. But these weren’t your traditional little black dresses or plain black suits. They took the ever-classic all-black and fused it with interesting silhouettes and structures. Black is usually a color that is reserved for more serious occasions, but these celebrities pushed that to the side and made the color more fun.
Crazy prints
The next trend is something we see every summer and that is crazy prints. The new approach to prints this year was to keep the color scheme well-balanced. Celebrities mixed prints but still kept their outfits looking classy. My biggest tip to accomplish this look is to mix a small print with a bigger print, or take a print and match it with a solid color that is present in the print.
Bling
Just like at the Oscars, sparkles are back in a huge way. What was interesting about the sparkles on this red carpet is that they were usually featured with muted colors rather than bold ones. Sparkles were often the highlight of the outfit and not the accent. I love adding bling to my look by pairing it with a more casual element. I sometimes wear a pink glitter skirt with a white T-shirt and sneakers. This is one way to incorporate bling into your daily life.
I am so excited that we are back to in-person events and that more red carpets are happening. I am excited to see how these bold trends play into our fashion for the rest of the year.
