Lorde released a single and video for her song, “Solar Power,” and it’s one of my new favorite songs.
“Solar Power” comes after Lorde’s almost four-year hiatus. It’s the first single from the singer, bearing the same name as the upcoming album. It has been rumored that the album will be released on Sunday, June 20.
Unfortunately, “Solar Power” was leaked on streaming platforms, which I’m sure can be upsetting as an artist. What didn’t leak, however, was the delightful surprise music video.
The music video shows the happy times that summer can bring to a person. I mean, look at this beautiful chorus, “Lead the boys and girls onto the beaches/Come one, come all, I’ll tell you my secrets/I’m kinda like a prettier Jesus.”
The video was shot on a “secret beach,” according to Bustle, located somewhere in New Zealand. The video is flawless; the best part of the video shows a happy Lorde dressed in yellow.
Growth and happiness are lovely to see in an artist. Especially considering when we first saw Lorde, she usually in dark tones and know for her dark lipstick.
“Solar Power” is of a different breeze, and I’m sure the album will have some anthems — it’s Lorde, after all.
